Why this hiking pole tent

The Hiking Pole Palace is a two-person hiking pole tent built as a full two-layer shelter. Pitch the outer rainfly, the inner mesh tent, or both. You skip the fragile dedicated pole kit that comes with most freestanding hiking pole tents and use the hiking poles already in your camping gear.

The rainfly zips at both ends for easy entry. It is not a deep vestibule, but about six inches of overage keeps some kit out of the sleep area. Setup is typically one to two minutes: stake, set poles in grommets or pockets (never metal tips on fabric), then guy out.

Size, setup, and what's included

This is a two-person, two-layer silnylon ultralight hiking pole tent. You can pitch the outer shell only, the inner mesh tent only, or both together. Each layer can go up on its own or as a pair, which is useful when weather changes mid-trip.

Unlike traditional tents with complicated pole systems that are hard to set up and easy to break, the Palace is compact and uses hiking poles for support. Weekend trips and longer wilderness walks both fit the same packed size.

Materials and weather

The canopy is 20D silnylon with a PU coating inside and silicone outside. The outer layer is an extra barrier in wet or cold weather. The inner mesh tent moves air on humid nights so you stay cooler than you would in a closed single wall. Together the layers give more weather buffer than a single-wall tarp while still packing like camping gear, not car-camp kit.
